Concept design
Fény Photo Studio
There are three hundred images in the gallery, and not one of them tells you what a shoot costs.
A fictional business. The name, the situation and the images are part of a concept design, not real client work. The mockups are in Hungarian, as the concept was made for the Hungarian market.
| Profession | photographer |
|---|---|
| The brief | portfolio structure and showing prices |
| Package level | Scope equivalent to the Business package |
| What I did | structure, copywriting, design, booking |
The problem
Three hundred slow-loading images, and no price or price range anywhere.
The solution
Separate paths for portraits and products, twelve images per gallery, “from” package prices, optimized images.
Expected impact
A faster site, especially on mobile, and fewer price questions.
The starting point
A portrait and product photographer who works alone. Prospects go through the gallery, then write to ask what it costs and when there’s availability.
What was wrong
- The gallery loads slowly because the images are uploaded at full size.
- No price, no packages, no price range.
- Portraits and product photos are mixed in one gallery.
The decisions I made, and why
1
Two separate paths: portrait and product
The two clients look for different things and decide differently. One page would serve both badly.
2
Twelve images per gallery, not three hundred
The selection itself is proof of expertise. The thirteenth image won’t convince anyone.
3
Package prices shown as “from”
The exact price depends on the location, but the price range filters out those it doesn’t fit.
4
Optimized images with lazy loading
On a photographer’s site, a slow gallery reflects badly on the quality of the work.
What I’d expect
This is a concept design, so I have no measured data on it. Based on professional judgment, I’d expect:
- A faster site, especially on mobile.
- Fewer price questions, because the price range is visible.
